We survived - Back to School
School is back and we survived our first week. Our first week for prep and grade 2, I am not going to lie I was nervous, I was not sure how the munchkins were going to react to going to school for the little one, new teacher for the oldest one, but my worries were not warranted, they did well, my gorgeous preppie just loved it and he loves his teachers, he is excited he has the same teachers as his big brother.
As for me I am back to the hustle and bustle of running munchkins to school, sports, music and everything in between.
and I know we are back at school when I had to get up this morning to bake some fresh cupcakes for the Election day school cake stall, I already voted (you can read here) so I think we will go for a coffee after the cupcake drop off.
Anyhoo.... I better go and put on some lippy and run.
Enjoy Karla

Vote for Pedro
This week is Election week here in Brisbane so I went today to do an early ballot because on Saturday I am err....... busy!?.
I have been meaning to go all week but things just popped up and couldn't make it so this morning after breakfast we set off on our scooter ride to the election voting place.
Once we arrived we got greeted by party supporters all smiling giving pamphlets away, well let me start by saying I won't comment on the elections or voting mainly because I do not have a political science degree so I am not really qualified to make any political statements except that I met a young girl who told me her party was all for supporting the nurses, I thought she was lovely I continued to push the smart trike up the hill while hyperventilating I might add, when I got greeted by Campbell Newman supporters then I remembered that I met him a few years back at a speech I made at City Hall and I remember he was lovely, then just before entering the hall I got greeted by Kate Jones, we had a light chat about how hot it was and how the kids start school next week so she was lovely and..... that's why I can not make any statements because I think everyone is lovely.
But let me speak about things I am semi-qualified to speak of and that is flowers, garden nurseries and ice blocks.
We had no plans for today so after the voting we decided to got to our local garden nursery (2km round trip) and buy an ice block, we stopped along the way for a play at the park.
We arrived at the garden nursery and we enjoyed a nice cold bottle of water and a calippo, we wandered around the nursery, the munchkins saying we must come back tomorrow with papa to buy some plants(I think they mean more ice-blocks) The nursery is just wonderful with the ray of colour from all the beautiful plants.
How good are ice-blocks on a hot day?
Three hours later we made our way back to the Whitecottage and we were all kaput and out of commission for the rest of the afternoon enjoying the air con.
As I write I may or may not be eating a raspberry ice block.
I must make a list of plants I need to go and buy on Saturday.
Cheers
Karla

Happy Birthday Cordelia
Yesterday I contacted my wonderful friend Rhi to arrange a catch up and a coffee, she said to pop over her home today as she had tradies and could not leave the house she also mentioned it was Cordelia's birthday and for us to bring our swimmers and have a splash in the swimming pool.
Right a light bulb went on, I had lemons, flour and eggs thanks to my trusty chickens so I baked a lemon cake and decorated it with some Alstromerias. I wanted to make a soft garden cake for one of my favourite English roses, the beautiful Cordelia who today turned 4 years old.
Anyhoo...we had been splashing in the swimming pool for a little while when the lovely Tina from Lady Chatterley's Affair popped in she came with her two beautiful munchkins and all of the sudden it was a birthday party. hip hip hooray!!!!!
We had one more piece of cake and coffee next thing we knew it was time for us to return to the Whitecottage.
I totally love unplanned parties don't you?
PS. I just saw that Lady Chatterley's Affair is having a sale on her website check it out so many wonderful things.
Well I have 2 lemons and some icing left so waste not I will make one more cake for good luck.
Happy Birthday Cordelia!!!!
Don't miss out on a good sale
cheers Karla.

Inpromptu road trip....to beat the heat
This morning we had the pleasure to met the Curious Caravan and it's owner Naja, the caravan is just a darling it's white and soft pink with the most gorgeous vintage décor the buntings, the good coffee and good conversation was just a delight.
Naja mentioned she will be there until the 12th January
Once we left the produce store we decided to go for a drive and next thing we knew we were in Moggill, the munchkins were screaming that they wanted to go on the ferry, so off we went to go on the ferry, destination no-where. We got off the ferry and drove around and we ended up at Mt Crosby and back to Brookfield.
The munchkins fell asleep on the way home it was a great opportunity to pot around the garden without little feet at the bottom of my skirt, Our front rose garden is looking a bit sad partly from the heat and partly because I haven't been out to attend to it because it is too hot.
Well it's that time of the day where I must feed some hungry people around here, we had a lovely day of just exploring the great south east, I wonder what tomorrow will bring.
Cheers Karla
